Outstanding and Dedicated Service Award

Bestowed by the Board and support of the General Body Membership of the District of Columbia Chapter of the National Alliance of Black Interpreters (NAOBI-DC), I was quite surprised, and most certainly humbled, by the honor of my professional peers. From 2011-2014, I served as Vice President for an organization that champions the cultivation of skill and professional development amongst Black interpreters. Within the development comes numerous workshops and conferences that I delighted in strategizing, organizing, or merely serving on the professional development planning committee.

I continued to play a pivotal role in the continued success of my cherished organization, which has seen exponential growth during my recent term as President (2016-2018). NAOBI-DC had become the premier professional development organization for practicing and aspiring Black interpreters in the nation's capital. Professionally, I am who I am today because of the unconditional love and support of my beloved NAOBIans!

Interpreter's Award for Excellence

Presented by the Eastern Regional Black Deaf Advocates Conference, this bi-annual award is given to those who served the [Black] Deaf community via leadership, courage, and what is known to many as exemplifying a "deaf heart". Totally surprised by this award, I had been recognized for forging a strengthened relationship between interpreting and deaf organizations through professional development, community services, political engagement, and social events.
