Certifications

Please take a moment to peruse select certifications that I possess. For your convenience, I have provided a brief description of the selected highlights below.

National Interpreter Certification

By the authority of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, I have earned the national interpreter certification (NIC). I have demonstrated professional knowledge and skills through a three-step challenging assessment that met or exceeded the minimum professional standards necessary to perform in a broad range of interpretation and transliteration assignments.

* The NIC is composed of three parts: a written knowledge test, an interview focusing on ethical decision-making, and a performance test consisting of a signed and spoken portion.

Signing Naturally Units 1-6 Teaching Certificate

Completed a targeted training for American Sign Language (ASL) teachers

and professors with at least three years' experience utilizing the Signing Naturally curriculum. Because the former edition entailed twelve chapters, the newer edition tripled in size, depth, and curriculum standardization. Thus, a national training series became necessary for ASL professors like myself in which to take advantage.

I am currently in the process of obtaining certification throughthe American Sign Language Teacher's Association (April 2016).
